Old computers which comes with old Window programs are probably slower. However, doesnt mean you must determine the new personal computer models in your area.
Though not all people would agree, old PC programs are easier to use. Its convenience is because of its simplicity. Its ordinary for old PCs to slow down just a little bit. But then again if your computer takes 15 minute booting up and 10 minutes loading basic applications then something is wrong with your PC. Do the listed speed up Windows guidelines:
> Remove worthless applications.
Your personal computer might still be holding programs that havent been used for years. Check the programs installed by checking add/remove program menu. Uninstall the programs you have not used for some time. Freeing up disk space will no doubt speed up your windows program.
> Update drivers.
Hardware drivers take up little space but they have a say on the speed of your Windows accessories. There have been a lot of improvements in the drivers of hardware over the years. Connect to the the Web and find new information about them. This information always speed up Windows 2000 and ME.
> Get rid of starting Windows message.
Windows 95 and 98 has this particular starting windows message that suspends PC booting. Remove this option to speed up Windows 98. Go to C:\ and look for Msdos.sys, right click on it and unmark the read-only option. Open the file in Notepad, select over to text Options inside the file. Add: Add BootDelay-0. You may choose to make your booting|want to change your PC booting faster by setting add Logo=0 to remove the heavy Windows logo through start-up.
> Optimize start menu.
Speed up Windows by having easy access to your start menu. Hit on Start and access Run. Type Regedit inside the bar and press Enter. Open the Registry editor folder named HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop. If you see a MenuShowDelay, double click it and modify the value of data field to 0. This sets your Start program access without any delay.
> Turn off active desktop.
For Windows 98, access the Display Properties settings and access Web tab. Unmark the option for View my Active Desktop as a Web Page. This very simple tip will have your Windows 98 speeding up in no time.
